BraveryPDX

Dear Friends,

Kara’s brave fight ended in the early morning hours of May 28th. To the very end, she was designing, thinking about the future, and considering the needs of her family, friends, employees, and wonderful loyal customers. We are going to keep the BraveryPDX website up and running, as we still have beautiful scarves and cards whose proceeds will go entirely to the Providence Cancer Center’s Integrative Medicine program.

Thank you all for your love and support.

Bravery. Strength. Love.

We are BraveryPDX: bringing awareness of integrative cancer treatments to Portland, OR, and supporting loved ones going through treatment.

Kara Larson of Tumbleweed Boutique and Tess Darrow of Egg Press had long wanted to produce a line together. When Kara was diagnosed with cancer in March, 2015, the impetus for this project grew. As her traditional cancer treatments progressed she was able to utilize Providence Cancer Center’s Integrative Medicine Program, and during an otherwise painful process, the in-tandem alternative therapies helped foster a positive, hopeful approach to Kara’s outlook.

To bring awareness of this program to the public, Kara and Tess have collaborated to create the BraveryPDX line of scarves, handprinted and sewn here in Portland.

The proceeds will be donated in full to the Providence Cancer Center Integrative Medicine Program. They are now available to buy at Tumbleweed, along with beautiful cards also printed by Egg Press. You will soon be able to donate directly to the program as well, right here on our website.

  4. Do you have an online means to donate to this project? I have had the fortunate opportunity to meet Kara and would love to donate to this project.

    • We wish there was, and in fact we tried to work with the hospital to create such an avenue. As it stands, outside of this project– the proceeds of which go in full to the hospital’s program– there is no easy way to donate directly. Feel free to contact the them and they will tell you the best way to go about it (link in the “About” page and “How to Purchase” page).

  5. Hello! One of you knows my sister Mary Faulkner. She encouraged me to reach out and I also work for Providence. I have a start-up and would love to include your beautiful scarf on the platform that will be launching soon. Feel free to email me directly. It would be great to talk. I love what you’re doing!
